Ioana Pantis, B.A.(Hons), M.A., LL.B. Articling Student
Ioana received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto before pursuing a Master’s in Translation Studies at York University. She recently graduated from the University of Ottawa’s French Common Law Program, aiming to help bilingual clients access justice. Ioana is also proficient in Spanish and Romanian, and is continuing her study of German, in an effort to help as many non-English speaking clients as possible. She joins Clarke Law as an Articling Student focusing primarily on negligent torts Superior Court of Justice actions for personal injury claims.
While in law school, Ioana developed a broad interest in health law through courses such as Law and Psychiatry, Law and Neuroscience, and Health Law, which eventually sparked her interest in personal injury. Most notably, she was a Student Fellow at the Global Health Law Clinic, providing a prominent international client with an in-depth, original analysis on the political feasibility of antimicrobial resistance. Another group project on the Ottawa Youth Mental Health Court aimed to help the local police and hospital improve their responses to those with mental health conditions in the criminal justice system.
Other adventures of hers in law school included working on the Ottawa Law Review and studying abroad at the University of Haifa Faculty of Law in Israel during an intensive course on Global Technology Law and Policy, which proved to be one of her most culturally enriching experiences thus far. She also gained a diverse experience from working at the Headquarters of Correctional Service Canada in correctional and education programs for federal inmates, and even had the opportunity to visit a federal penitentiary.
Ioana is very happy to be at Clarke Law with such dedicated and knowledgeable team members, and loves spending time with friends, visiting art galleries, and going for long walks and hikes.
